SOUTHERN MARYLAND IS A PLEASANT DRIVE TO ANNAPOLIS, WASHINGTON, D.C. OR BALTIMORE.
Southern Maryland is not known for very much traffic. Route 4 is the main highway through Calvert County and is not congested even during the peak drive times. Charles County has improved highways in and out of the county going north/south over the past several years and it is now a fast commute to the Washington Beltway. Route 301 goes all the way through from Prince George's County to the Potomac River Bridge. St. Mary's (route 235) has virtually no rush hour traffic and the only impediment to travel is the distraction of the horse drawn carts utilized by the Amish farmers in the area. And, you must taste the succulent strawberries the Amish grow and sell on the road side in June.

In Calvert County, there are water oriented properties on the Chesapeake Bay on the east side of this peninsula and on the Patuxent River on the west side.
