Goals for Southern Maryland Education
Public elementary and secondary school systems of Southern Maryland improvement
is the highest priority of the governments of Calvert, Charles and St.
Mary's County. Public education and public schools are essential to the
success of the present and future economy of Southern Maryland.
By the year 2005, Southern Maryland Higher Education Center will be expanded
to increase the number of advanced studies programs in public and private
higher education facilities in Southern Maryland and will maintain satellite
locations in Charles and Calvert Counties.
Code of Student Conduct for Southern Maryland Students
All students (grades kindergarten to 12) receive the Code of Student Conduct
handbook early in the beginning of the school year. School officials spend
time during the first two weeks of school reviewing the information with
students and highlighting major changes. Parents should also read this
handbook to becomes familiar with the rules and regulations that govern
student behavior. Students are responsible for knowing and understanding
the information, including policies and procedures and consequences for
violating the conduct code. The Code of Conduct is available at all public
schools in Southern Maryland.
